The famous Toy Insider Holiday Hot List is out now, and you can see the anticipated best seller toys for Christmas this year. So let’s take a look at some of the top Christmas toys 2014 – and how customers rate them!
This is a US-based list, so at the time of writing (November 2014) some toys are cheaper to order from Amazon USA, even if you are in the UK. That’s likely to change closer to Christmas.
Toot Toot Animals Safari Park Playset
This set is called the VTech Go! Go! Smart Animals Zoo Explorers Playset in the USA. Based on the Toot Toot train playsets, it introduces animals that move along the track instead of trains, singing as they go. See our Toot-Toot Animals Safari review with video
The set comes with one interactive animal, track with many zoo/safari park features, and 7 smartpoint locations. There’s plenty for kids to do.
Age 1-5, but best for kids around 18 months to 4 years.
Fisher-Price Smart Stages Chair
This activity centre in the form of a smiley-faced chair offers plenty for little ones to do. It has over 50 songs and phrases, a flip-up book, buttons to press and a light-up remote control. Be sure to put the batteries in before you assemble it, because it’s easier than accessing the compartment later.
See our Smart Stages Chair review with video
There are 3 levels of play depending on your child’s age, so in a sense the toy grows with the child – kids will find new things to do when they move on to the next age level. They can sit in the chair to use the book and remote on the arm rests, or lift the seat to find other activities. Age 1-3.
Kettler Speedy Balance Bike
A lot of balance bikes are designed for kids from age 3 up, but most children are asking for their first bike at 2. The Kettler Speedy is designed to be both small enough and safe for a two-year-old.
See our Kettler Speedy balance bike review
The assembly instructions could be improved, and yes they will grow out of a toy like this within a year or two, but by age 4 most kids are ready for a bike with pedals anyway. It comes in either pink or blue and the recommended age range is 2-4.

Paw Patrol Lookout Playset
From the Paw Patrol TV show, here’s a nice playset that looks just like the one your kids have seen on the screen. The periscope turns, the elevator works and there are lights and sounds. Chase can watch the area from the top in his cruiser, and when he sees a problem, he can race down the slide to fix it!

Parents will be happy to know this playset won’t fill the whole room, and it’s very well priced. You get the lookout with a slide, a Chase figure and police cruiser vehicle. You can order more Paw Patrol figures and vehicles separately. Age 3-6.
Disney Frozen Cool Tunes Sing-Along Boombox
Sing along to the songs from Disney’s ‘Frozen’ with this mini karaoke machine. It comes with 3 songs and you can hook it up to an MP3 player to sing along to any other songs that you have recorded.

Disney Tsum Tsum Plush Collection
Disney first released the Tsum Tsum plush toys in Japan in 2013 along with the popular Japanese mobile game by the same name. They came out in the USA and at Disneyland Paris in 2014. They’re safe for age 3+, but we think older kids right up to adult will love them.
“Tsum” means “stack” in Japanese, and these cuddly little characters can be stacked in a pyramid. They come in three sizes, small, medium or large, and any mix of sizes can be stacked together. You’ll find cute and cuddly versions of characters from Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh, as well as Mickey and friends. We can see these catching on in a big way going into 2015.
