Is The Ugglys Pug Electronic Pet Worth Buying?

Uggly PugUgglys Pug hand puppets are advertised as disgusting and mischievous electronic pets. So you have been warned: these are not for your kids if they (or you) don’t appreciate gross humour. Making over 30 different sounds including farts and burps, the putrid pug even snores when he is left alone, waiting for you to slip your hand inside and activate him.

This enthralling but truly ugly hand puppet will definitely unlock the mischievous side in your child and bring out their love of the disgusting. And you’ll be pleased to hear that you can adjust the volume either higher or lower by turning the dial on the dog’s collar if you get tired of the dog’s gaseous adventures.

The dog “wakes up” when you slip your hand inside, and pressing different buttons or parts of him will cause him to make different noises. He makes various animal and insect sounds as well as digestive noises, but he is more likely to appeal to young boys and male tweens rather than little girls. If you’re an uncle wondering what to get your young nephew for Christmas, this could be the answer. He can produce fits of laughter in rowdy kids.

This is a “marmite toy” that you will either love or hate. If you watch the video at the top of the page, you’ll know you either must have it or will never have it for your children. Some parents will find this pug repugnant and will complain that it doesn’t do anything educational or useful, but many will be just as tickled as their children with the animal’s rude but hilarious behavior. The toy pet pug is durably made in hardened but pliable plastic and sturdy cloth, and it does bear some resemblance to a real pug.

It’s advertised for children age 5-10 in the UK and 6+ in the USA (why these differences? we have no idea). It measures 8.2 x 8.2 x 7.4 inches (23 x 23 x 19 cm) and weighs approx 1.5 lb (just over 600g) so it would be rather big and heavy for smaller kids to have on their hands for any long time. But the Ugglys Pug Electronic Pet is one of those toys that many kids can’t stay away from. It’s definitely made for a raucous and rambunctious playtime.
