Bruder Mack Granite Tip Up Truck Review
The Bruder Mack Granite Tip Up Truck is an excellent scale replica of a real Bruder Mack Dump Truck. All the details are there, right down to the little bulldog on the front of the bonnet.
There are plenty of working parts: the back section lifts and tips things out through a trap door, the cab doors open and close, the bonnet lifts and the mirrors can be folded in. You can also get add-on gear that will give the truck the ability to make sounds, or add a snow plough to it. There are other scale construction toys, such as excavators, to make a full on construction toy set.
This toy is not cheap, however, and while many models tend to be die cast in metal, this 1:16 scale model is made of plastic. Some buyers have been disappointed with this, so it’s worth pointing out.
But keep in mind this is intended to be a toy, not a collector’s model. It’s a big toy dump truck, approx 53 x 18 x 22 cm (that’s over 1.5 feet long), and if it was made of metal it would be too heavy for most kids. Also, the plastic is pretty sturdy and it seems to last well.
Given the size, if you’re planning to give it to somebody you’ll need to take it in the car or have it delivered direct. You wouldn’t want to pack this along in your airplane baggage!
Bruder make several other realistic model trucks and construction vehicles in the same range so you can collect them all if you want and have your kids start a play construction company. See for example our reviews of the Bruder Mack Granite Flatbed Truck with JCB Loader Backhoe and the Bruder Caterpillar Track-Type Tractor.
In summary, while some parents were disappointed to find it was not metal, kids seem to love the Bruder Mack Granite Tipup Truck. They love that there’s so much to play with and that it’s ‘just like the real thing’. A very good choice for kids age 3 to around 6.
